Seattle Senior Photographer: Capturing Unique Senior Portraits in the Mountains

Hey there! I’m so glad you’re here. As a senior photographer, I absolutely love creating beautiful and authentic images and heirlooms for my seniors, and I recently had the chance to do a super special session in the gorgeous mountains just 1.5 hours away from Seattle, WA. It was one of those days where everything felt just right—the perfect location, amazing light, and Emmerson (aka the cutest senior ever) who brought all the good vibes.

Why I Love Shooting Senior Photos in the Mountains

If there’s one thing I’ve learned after 5 years of taking senior pictures, it’s that EVERYONE wants unique senior photos. There’s something truly magical about the mountains near Seattle. The mix of lush greenery, towering peaks, and peaceful trails offers a natural backdrop that’s both stunning and versatile. Whether you’re a bit adventurous or want a relaxed, laid-back session, this spot offers so many options to match your personality and style.

During this session, we timed it perfectly to be able to capture the scenery by the lake with the mountains in the background, to golden hour in a gorgeous wildflower field. In my opinion, the best time to take photos at this location is mid-to-late July. By this time of the year, the snow has melted and the weather has warmed up to the low 70’s, but it’s early enough in the summer that we avoid having to reschedule due to smoke from wildfires!

Emmerson was an absolute joy to photograph. She’s so natural in front of the camera! We had fun capturing a mix of candid, joy-filled moments and thoughtful portraits. From carefree laughs on a hillside to serene poses with the mountains as a backdrop-this is one of my favorite senior sessions to date.
