Welcome friend! I’m Vanessa – Pacific Northwest wedding + portrait photographer. I’ve been a photographer for 3+ years, and it’s been one of the most unexpected turns I’ve ever taken in life.

It’s important that my couples and seniors get to know who I am as a photographer and who I am as a person. Because I’m not just going to photograph the most important moments of your life, I’m going to be a part of those important moments. I’ll get up close to fluff your hair and fix your dress during your senior session. I’ll be part of your first look and personal vows with your spouse. I may be one of the first people to know your baby’s name because you’re not ready to announce it to the world yet, but you just NEED to tell someone (this has happened and I’m honored every time). 

These moments should be spent with friends, not strangers. So as your new friend, here are 10 things you should know about me.

1. The first + most important thing on this list is my faith. My relationship with Jesus impacts everything I do in my business and personal life. It’s why I have a heart to serve people with my gifts, including photography. All of this is for Him.
2. I am a whopping 5ft 2in, so I carry my handy step stool to almost every wedding and session. Slightly embarrassing, yes. But you’ll thank me when you see how good your jawline looks in your photos.
3. My love languages are quality time and words of affirmation. The best way to thank me after a session? Positive words of affirmation to me or a review. I promise, it means so much more to me than you realize.
4. My favorite show of all time is The Office. I once took a quiz to see which character I was from the show. I got Michael Scott. I retook it again and got Michael Scott. The quiz said, “If you took this quiz twice in hopes of getting Jim the second time, you are definitely Michael Scott…”
5. I’m not superstitious, but I am a little stitious.
6. My favorite color is white. It’s very unfortunate considering how much I spill coffee on myself.
7. I drink coffee for the taste not the caffeine, but I refuse to order decaf. 
8. I’m always up for a travel adventure, near or far. I love experiencing new things, and nothing satisfies that more than experiencing a new culture and city.
9. When I graduated high school, my plan was to go to business school and then beauty school to open a salon. I picked up a camera my senior year of college and the rest is history.
10. My greatest hope for all my clients after our session is that they print their photos + share the stories behind them. Don’t just download the photos onto your phone, post one on Instagram and move on. These photos will only live on as long as you tell the stories behind them, and those stories deserve to be told.
